One Month Already!

Aiden is one month old....he is getting so big and growing like a bean sprout (that's what my dad's new name for him is!). When I took him to the doctor last week to get his "procedure" he was 6 pounds 4 ounces and 18 inches long...he has grown two inches and gained two pounds since he was born. I bet you are wondering how his "procedure" went....he did great! He slept the whole time...mom did great too. I held his tiny hands and looked right at him and didn't watch. It really wasn't that bad to be in the room with him, I had heard some horror stories and was a little worried about going by myself, but Aiden and mommy did great!

*Aiden is more alert now.
*He stays awake for longer periods of time (sometimes a couple of hours).
*He gets the hiccups at least once a day.
*He farts.
*When he sneezes his hands go up next to his face.
*He tends to sleep with his hands up near his face---see picture.
*He is eating 4 ounces now.
*He fits into newborn diapers.
*He can wear some of his newborn oneies, but not the outfits yet.
*He loves to be held, by anyone.
*He loves to be rested up on your shoulder or lay on your chest.
*He likes to look at his toys with lights and that play music.
*He watches Dustin when he plays the guitar.
*We are thinking that his eyes are going to stay blue.

2 weeks old

On Saturday, we took Aiden to get his first pictures taken. He is now two weeks old, I can't believe how fast the time is already going. We wanted to be sure to capture how tiny he was, since he is a preemie. The pictures turned out beautiful and we got so many pictures to share and a CD with the whole session. I only posted a few of our favorites.

Things about Aiden:
*his preemie clothes are a little big
*he loves when Mommy and Daddy talk to him
*he loves to look at his sun with music and lights
*he only fusses or cries for a minute
*he smiles
*he loves to sleep (oh wait so does Mommy)
*he doesn't mind being in his carseat or driving in the car
*he loves to snuggles close to Mommy and Daddy
*he is starting to stay awake for longer periods of time
*he doesn't mind when the dogs bark

Meeting Grandma and Grandpa

My parents were out of town when Aiden was born, and returned home on August 3rd. They came straight to our house before going home, to visit with their grandson. They kept saying how tiny and adorable he was. He looks really tiny when my dad holds him. Aiden even spit up down my mom's back...gosh mom he hasn't even done that to us yet!

First Sponge Bath at Home

We gave Aiden his first sponge bath at home, August 3rd, and he was not very happy. He does not like to be cold and then adding water too that made him cry. He does not cry very often and when he does it is only for a minute. He is a pretty happy and content little guy! He is starting to be more calm during his baths, but again they are only sponge baths right now until his umbilical cord falls off then it's to the tub...we will see how that goes!

This is a picture of Dustin with 24 hours worth of diapers!

First 24 hours Home

Aiden was discharged from the NICU yesterday late morning. I went and bought some preemie outfits for him and those are even a little too big for him. He weighed 4lbs. 11 oz. when he was discharged and 16 1/2 inches long. We got home about noon, and we excited to get our little boy home. We were greeted by Roxy and Belle, who at first did not realize we had him sitting in his carseat. It took just a minute or two and then Belle discovered him and Roxy came to see what she had found. They were so curious! They would peek inside the Pack n Play to make sure he was okay and follow me around when I was holding the baby. Roxy barks when he starts to get fussy.

Aiden and Mommy needed a nap after all of the excitement of coming home. I can relax now that he is home, no more going back and forth to the hospital for little visits.
